What Changes Do You Expect When Nevada Justice Court Jurisdiction Increases From $10,000 To $15,000 In January 2017?

The 2015 Nevada Legislature increased the state courts’ jurisdictional limits.  Assembly Bill 66 saw the jurisdictional limit in small claims increase from $7,500 to $10,000.  That change took effect on October 1, 2015.  NRS 73.010. Nevada Voters Approve Creation Of Nevada’s First Appellate Court

On November 4, 2014, Nevada voters approved Ballot Question No. 1 authorizing the creation of a Nevada Appellate Court. According to results published by the Secretary of State’s office, the question prevailed in Clark, Washoe and Carson City Counties but went down to defeat in all other counties. The margin of victory in the more populous counties was enough to put the measure over the top. Vote Yes On Question 1 Creating A New Nevada Appellate Court

Question One on the November 2014 Nevada ballot seeks to establish a three-judge appellate court in Nevada. The Nevada Law Blogs support the creation of this new court. According to the Nevada State Bar, the Court of Appeals would consist of three judges, The Ballot Question Explanation provides that the Governor would appoint the initial three judges from nominees provided by the Commission on Judicial Selection. Nevada District Court Dismisses RICO And Class Action Suit Alleging Wrongful Towing Of Vehicles Parked On A Las Vegas Strip Property

Mike Mills of Mills & Associates recently prevailed on a Motion to Dismiss a Class Action and RICO Complaint against his tow truck company client.
